CASE STUDY 1: Digital Detox Design

PROJECT SUBTITLE: Addressing digital addiction among teens

CLIENT AND/OR INTENDED AUDIENCE: This project targeted teenagers and their parents, aiming to improve digital well-being through thoughtful product and service design.

NAMES: Ane (saena680@newschool.edu) , Phoebe (hendp682@newschool.edu) , Marina (hollm268@newschool.edu) & Christy (leec685@newschool.edu)

GOAL FOR PROJECT: The main goal was to create a solution to help teenagers reduce digital addiction while fostering healthier relationships with technology. Success was measured by the relevance of the solution to the target audience and the viability of its implementation.

MY EXPERIENCE: Using ethnographic research, I conducted surveys with teens to understand their struggles with screen time. I also conducted interviews with industry professionals. Then, we developed prototypes, including a tech-free app-based gamification system that incentivized real-world activities.

OUTCOME: The final design, a subscription-based service, exceeded expectations with positive feedback. This project reinforced my interest in human-centric design strategies.
